Dali's Mathematical Mind

"Appreciate work you don't understand... the fact you don't understand it, probably means you have something new to learn." Expanding with Dali, da Vinci, Tessellation, the 4th Dimension & more with Featured Speaker: Joann Dye Dali's Mathematical Mind is an exploration of Salvador Dali's mathematical influences and his use of mathematical principles in his art work. The audience will be invited to further explore his interpretation of nuclear physics, his application of the Golden Ratio, his obsession with Rhinoceroses and his interest in Leonardo da Vinci. We will examine his use of tessellation, platonic solids, and the forth dimensional hypercube. Joann Dye is a Professor of Mathematics at Hillsborough Community College and a Dali Museum Docent. She is also an award winning photographer, specializing in narratives that evoke surreal dreams. For more information about her work please see www.joanndye.com. She also teaches an Interdisciplinary Studies Course titled Salvador Dali: The Art, Science and Mathematics Behind the Genius.
