Windows XP was something many of us look back on with nostalgia, and it makes sense why. With windows XP being a massive success for microsoft and the default desktop background being the most viewed image of all time it’s understandable that many people have memories of windows XP. But what made windows XP so special? To know the answer we need to go back about 17 years. Windows ME still left a bad taste in consumers mouths leaving windows 98 and 2000 to be the standard. The problem with both windows 98 and 2000 is that doing simple things were very difficult, which pushed new, less savvy consumers away. Windows XP hoped to remedy this, by creating an operating system that was compatible with a range of hardware and software and was also user friendly. But how do you market to users? Well, you start with multimedia.
